Worcestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra and WYJO2 with special guests Georgina Jackson and Pete Long

After acquiring a strange and unfashionable obsession with Jazz and Big Band music at an early age (and in Wigan!), Georgina Jackson began her musical career working as a professional trumpet player working with many famous faces and Big Bands in Concert Halls, television and radio. Harbouring a desire to wear a posh frock rather than the same as ‘the lads’ in the band, Georgina decided to make a dash for the front mike! Georgina has since appeared with the BBC Big Band, BBC Concert Orchestra, recorded two CDs and is the resident singer with the Ronnie Scotts Jazz Orchestra. Last year, Georgina was one of the Headline performers at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Hollywood, co-hosting the opening concert with Arturo Sandoval.

The multi-talented Jackson has a vocal presence that is satin, tonally splendid and finger beckoningly seductive…she instinctively demos how to rhythmically milk the best and most meaningful out of both lyric and melody Jazz Times
