Who Knows Where The Time Goes?: The Julie July Band
Fresh from the iconic Troubadour – Earls Court – London……. The Julie July Band play a heartfelt tribute to the great singer-songwriter Sandy Denny
From dreamy acoustic melodies to driving progressive folk-rock, she was one of the UK’s singer songwriters of the British Folk-Rock movement. In her brief career she left a legacy of beautiful, haunting original and traditional compositions. Richard Thompson called her ‘The greatest artist of her generation”.
Melody maker readers twice voted her ‘Best British Female Singer” in 1970 and 1971. Her most famous song Who Knows Where the Time Goes? was voted favourite folk-track of all time by listeners of BBC Radio 2 and has been covered by many artists including Judy Collins, Nina Simone, Eva Cassidy and Kate Rusby.
Now, 40 years on The Julie July Band will perform a selection of her songs from The Strawbs, Fotheringay, her solo career and Fairport Convention.
Also featuring guest pianist Chris Hutchison accompanying and performing arrangements from Sandy’s Solo Sessions at the BBC.
Chris plays, sings and writes in his own distinctive and individual style of ‘soul’ music. He’s opened for Bear Grylls Mud, Sweat & Tears and was featured on Bears Desert Island Discs. He has toured supporting Oasis with Beautiful People. Has done session work with Martin Furry’s Bohinta and Gary Stringer of Reef. Recorded extensively with the original Mr Big in the mid 80’s. He’s currently working with bands: The Merseybeats, Vanity Fair, Swinging Blue Jeans, New Amen Corner and The Julie July Band.
